Hi.After a long break I have rekindled an interest in RC flying. I was a member way back when the club flew from the old drome at Longside and flew only once at Feshie when the club moved to its new patch. The dark nights have arrived and my loft once again is my retreat to whittle and bond balsa woodin to magnificent model flying machines, well perhaps my efforts may not quite be described as magnificent but they are fine for my less than proficient flying skills. The hanger upstairs has examples of vintage, scale, sport models and powered gliders some scratch built some kit built and one or two assembly jobbies. The present project is a Slec electric Funfly, formaly known as a Precedent Funfly 25, this is my third one the first meeting it's demise when a loss of radio contact found it decending verticaly at breakneck speed and impacting on to the unforgiving runway of Peterhead airodrome, the second example is still in flying condition but would benefit from recovering to bring her back to her former glory. I hope to visit the club in the near future with a view to rejoining so look forward to meeting you all again.

Well work has begun to Finish the SLEC / Presedent Funfly 25 as the lengthening days of last spring brought an end to balsa whitling for the year. I are now covering the airframe with only the tail feathers remaining to complete the job.The hanger upstairs holds quite a number of kits including my all time favorite RC plane the venerable old lady of early RC flight a Ben Buckle Radio Queen, I look forward with antisipation to unfolding the plan and rifling through the contents of the box and pining bits to the board but alas she will have to wait a wee while yet as there are several unfinished projects to atend to first. A Flair SE5A awaits covering a MK22 Spit requires a little more in the way of man hours to have her ready for the paint shop and there is a myriad of sad looking airframes waiting to be stripped of their fuel impregnated film and refinished, so lots of jobs to keep me busy. I am very much looking forward to getting back in to the club and joining you for a fly in the new year.

I had a look at the flying site on Sunday and had a couple of flights, these were a bit hairy but man and machine walked away unscathed as did madam and our two Labs. It was a lovely afternoon warm sunshine and a light breeze. Much more pleasant I remember than the stiff winds at the drome in years gone by. I had hoped to meet some other flyers but it was not to be, next time perhaps. Sunglasses and a peaked cap will be on the list of essential items for future visits, for rare as it may be for the solar rays to shine through in our neck of the woods it dose mean that following a flying machine at the Feshie Flying Field means you have to look for the hun in the sun. I did meet a gentleman who called in past with a set of large wheels he had promised one of the members so if you are that person you will find the wheels by the cabin.
